The menu bar runs across the top of the Mac desktop. The Apple logo/item is on the far left of the bar, on to the immediate right of the logo there are menu bar items for the front-most application. The right side of the menu bar can include various menu bar applications, helpers that you install, and default items like the time and Notification button.
